# MLS Week 29 — Predictions and Game-by-Game Analysis
October 21–25, 2026 · US Eastern Time (ET)
For this updated forecast, I’ve checked the scheduled fixtures and the latest available league table and recent results. One important correction to my earlier list: San Diego FC vs Seattle Sounders is also on the October 24 slate, so it must be included among the 15 matches. The fixture list below follows the published schedule.

## Game-by-game analysis
## 1. FC Cincinnati vs D.C. United
### Prediction: 2–1
Cincinnati have home advantage, but their 0–2 defeat to Columbus on October 18 highlighted defensive vulnerabilities. D.C. United also lost 1–4 to Orlando. Both sides have conceded frequently this season, making a clean sheet unlikely. Cincinnati’s home record is the deciding factor in my prediction, though the teams’ return meeting three days later adds uncertainty around fatigue and rotation.

## 2. CF Montréal vs Nashville SC
### Prediction: 0–2
Nashville lead the Eastern Conference with 67 points, 64 goals scored and only 23 conceded in the standings snapshot. Montréal have 25 points and a goal difference of −24. That substantial gap supports an away win. Nashville drew 1–1 with San Jose on October 17, so I favor a controlled rather than extravagant scoreline. Montréal need to defend compactly and avoid giving Nashville space to attack.

## 3. Columbus Crew vs Toronto FC
### Prediction: 2–1
Columbus enter after a 2–0 win over Cincinnati, a positive result against a playoff-contending opponent. Toronto beat the Red Bulls 2–0 on October 17, so they should not be underestimated. Toronto’s 36 points compare with Columbus’s 35, suggesting a close contest. I lean toward Columbus because of their home advantage and recent momentum, with both teams likely to find scoring opportunities.

## 4. New York Red Bulls vs Inter Miami
### Prediction: 1–2
Miami have scored 73 goals in the standings snapshot, among the strongest attacking totals in the league. They beat Atlanta 3–1 in their latest listed match, while the Red Bulls lost 0–2 to Toronto. New York can make the match difficult at home, but Miami’s scoring output gives them the edge. I expect the Red Bulls to create at least one good chance, yet Miami should have enough attacking quality to win narrowly.

## 5. Atlanta United vs Chicago Fire
### Prediction: 1–2
Chicago have a stronger season record, with 48 points in the available table, compared with Atlanta’s 27–30 depending on the standings snapshot. Chicago lost 0–1 to New England, while Atlanta fell 1–3 to Miami. Atlanta’s home field should help them compete, but Chicago’s better overall results make them the more reliable pick. A narrow away win seems more likely than a high-scoring blowout.

## 6. D.C. United vs FC Cincinnati
### Prediction: 1–1
The teams meet in Cincinnati on October 21 and again in Washington on October 24. That unusual turnaround makes this fixture particularly difficult to forecast: tactical adjustments, fatigue and squad rotation could matter as much as season-long form. Both teams have conceded plenty of goals, but the short interval may encourage a more cautious approach in the second match. I predict a draw, with neither side able to establish sustained control.

## 7. Orlando City vs New York City FC
### Prediction: 2–1
Orlando beat D.C. United 4–1 on October 17, showing that they can be dangerous when their attacking play clicks. NYCFC drew 1–1 with LAFC, a respectable result against a strong opponent. Orlando’s 58 goals scored are encouraging, but their 70 conceded show why a clean sheet is less likely. I give the hosts a narrow advantage, while expecting NYCFC to score once.

## 8. Philadelphia Union vs New England Revolution
### Prediction: 1–1
New England’s 52 points place them ahead of Philadelphia’s 46, but Philadelphia have scored 61 goals in the standings snapshot. New England beat Chicago 1–0 in their latest listed match, while Philadelphia drew 2–2 with Charlotte. This looks like a close matchup between a more consistent New England side and a Philadelphia team capable of scoring at home. A draw is my preferred result.

## 9. FC Dallas vs San Jose Earthquakes
### Prediction: 2–1
Dallas have 51 points and a positive goal difference, while San Jose have 48 points. Dallas drew 2–2 with Houston on October 17, and San Jose drew 1–1 with Nashville. Both sides have shown attacking capability, but Dallas’s home record makes them my selection. I expect San Jose to score, yet Dallas may create enough pressure to find a late winner.

## 10. Houston Dynamo vs Minnesota United
### Prediction: 2–1
Houston drew 2–2 with Dallas, while Minnesota beat St. Louis City 3–2 after coming from behind. Minnesota’s recent win suggests their attack can be dangerous, but their 34 points and −8 goal difference compare unfavorably with Houston’s 44–47 points in the available standings. Home advantage tips the balance toward Houston. I expect both teams to score, with the Dynamo narrowly ahead.

## 11. Sporting Kansas City vs Austin FC
### Prediction: 1–2
Sporting KC have struggled defensively, with 73 goals conceded in the standings snapshot, while Austin have conceded 56. Austin are hardly dominant themselves, but their season record is better. Sporting KC’s home advantage could help them score, yet the visitors have a stronger basis for expecting a result. I predict Austin to win by one goal, with a draw the main alternative.

## 12. Colorado Rapids vs Vancouver Whitecaps
### Prediction: 1–2
Vancouver sit near the top of the Western Conference with 55 points and a strong goal difference. They beat Austin 2–1 in their latest listed match. Colorado drew 0–0 with Portland, demonstrating defensive discipline but limited attacking output in that game. Playing at altitude can make Colorado a challenging opponent, but Vancouver’s stronger overall record makes an away victory my choice.

## 13. Real Salt Lake vs St. Louis City
### Prediction: 1–2
St. Louis have 48–51 points in the available standings sources and a better goal difference than Real Salt Lake. They did lose 2–3 to Minnesota after surrendering a lead, so their defense is not invulnerable. Real Salt Lake won 3–1 against Sporting KC, giving the home side a credible scoring threat. I still favor St. Louis, but expect a competitive match rather than a comfortable away win.

## 14. Portland Timbers vs Charlotte FC
### Prediction: 1–2
Charlotte have 47 points and a positive goal difference, while Portland have 34 points and have conceded 56 goals in the standings snapshot. Portland’s 0–0 draw with Colorado showed defensive improvement but little attacking production. Charlotte drew 2–2 with Philadelphia, showing their ability to score against a strong opponent. Charlotte are my pick, though the long trip to Portland adds some uncertainty.

## 15. San Diego FC vs Seattle Sounders
### Prediction: 1–1
San Diego and Seattle are relatively close in the Western Conference table, although Seattle’s points total is higher in the latest standings snapshot. San Diego drew 2–2 with the Galaxy, while Seattle drew 1–1 with Montréal. Those results point toward a close match, with both sides capable of scoring but neither showing decisive recent superiority. San Diego’s home advantage is balanced by Seattle’s stronger season record, so a draw is the safest score prediction.

## 16. LAFC vs LA Galaxy
### Prediction: 2–1
The Los Angeles derby is especially volatile because rivalry intensity can outweigh the usual statistical indicators. LAFC drew 1–1 with NYCFC, while the Galaxy drew 2–2 with San Diego. LAFC have a stronger goal difference in the available table, and home advantage pushes my prediction toward them. I expect both sides to score, with LAFC having a slight edge in a potentially open match.
